Police Send Notice To Man Who Didn’t Want ‘Non-Hindu’ Zomato Delivery Boy

The Madhya Pradesh police have reportedly taken action against the Jabalpur man who had cancelled his order because he was being provided with a Muslim rider. 

According to CNN News18, the police had asked the culprit- Amit Shukla for a written undertaking from the man that he would not spread ‘religious hatred’.

According to reports, the police said that Shukla’s actions hurt religious sentiments and they would soon be sending him a notice asking him to explain his behaviour.

Even though no formal case has been filed yet, the police said that it had taken suo moto notice of Shukla’s Twitter post.

Speaking to News18, Jabalpur SP, Amit Singh said: 

We have issued a notice and it will be served to Amit Shukla. He’ll be warned if he tweets anything which is against ideals of Constitution. Action will be taken; he is on surveillance.

Zomato had meanwhile, condemned the post and said that ‘Food has no religion. It is a religion’. 

Later, founder of the company, Deepinder Goyal also tweeted about the matter.
