Pune And Rajkot To Be The Two New Franchises Of IPL

The two new franchise teams of IPL have been announced as Pune and Rajkot. These teams will replace Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.

Chairman of RP-Sanjeev Goenka Group, Sanjeev Goenka won the bid for Pune team while Intex won for Rajkot team for next two seasons of vivo IPL.

The two franchises have been sold only for a period of two years, following which they will have to exit IPL, when Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are eligible to return to the tournament’s fold.

The other cricket venues who were also available in the bidding were Chennai, Dharamsala, Nagpur, Cuttack, Kanpur, Indore, Ranchi and Visakhapatnam.
