After the rise in declaring caste, religion, designations and village names on vehicles has apparently become a trend, the traffic department will penalise anyone with such writings.
According to reports, strict action will be taken against anyone who breaks the rule. The order was passed after the Civil Rights Society said in a letter that such writings are causing communalism and casteism in the society.
The report also adds that writings on windscreens can be a reason for distraction for drivers which further be dangerous to everyone on the road. The rights group also mentioned that number plates in Rajasthan even had names and slogans written on them. A senior police official told TOI,
Writings on number plates were always illegal and carry a penalty of Rs 5,000.
However, there is no specified penalty on writing names and desginations on windscreens and the body of the vehicle.
