In recent years, violence against women in India has reached new heights. And in another such case, in Uttar Pradesh, a 19-year-old was allegedly gang-raped by five men, outside Lucknow.
According to Indiatimes, the incident took place in Malhihabad village on Thursday, when the victim had gone outside to attend nature’s call. The five men also shot her in the nose after she tried to resist them.
According to the police complaint, she had been targetted as the part of a revenge plot for her brother eloping with the main accused’s sister.
The girl’s father found her in a pool of her own blood after being alerted by the gunshot. She was rushed to the hospital where she has been admitted to a trauma care centre and is currently out of danger.
The police are reported to have arrested four men, including the main accused Sandeep, while one of them is on the run.
