Ravi Shankar Prasad Says Economy Is Fine As 3 Films Made 120 Cr In A Day. Cue Twitter’s Eco Lesson

In Mumbai to campaign for BJP, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad made a strange analogy that has people scratching their heads.

Speaking about the country’s economic status, he said that 3 Indian movies collectively earned 120 crores in a day and that means the country’s economy is fine.

In a report by NDTV, he was quoted as saying:

I was also told that on October 2, which is observed as one of the national holidays, three Hindi movies garnered Rs. 120 crore business on that day. Unless the economy is sound in the country how can only three movies collected so much business in a single day?

The statement understandably started making news and started trending on Twitter very soon.

And the list of bizarre statements continues…
