As per reports, a group of poachers entered the park to hunt down Rhinos but one of them died from an attack by an elephant. His mortal remains were then allegedly devoured by a pride of lions as the park officials only discovered a human skull on the suspected spot the poacher died in.

The police also arrested two of the accomplices and recovered hunting ammunition. As per NYT, the managing executive of the park, Glenn Phillips offered his condolences and also reiterated that illegal entry into the park is dangerous.

Entering Kruger National Park illegally and on foot is not wise. It holds many dangers and this incident is evidence of that.

Rhinos are mostly poached for their horns, the trade of which is illegal. However, as this incident proves, poaching is a terrible practice that results in the loss of life of both humans and animals.
