RSS-Affiliated Bodies May Soon Get Back Prime Land In Delhi Scrapped By UPA Govt

Thanks to the Modi govt, about two dozen of the 29 RSS-affiliated socio-cultural and religious organizations will soon get back prime land in Delhi alloted to them, that was cancelled by the previous UPA government in 2004.

These allotments were made by the then Atal Behari Vajpayee-led NDA government between 2000-01.

But the UPA government had cancelled the land allotments citing irregularities in the process which had prompted the allottees to challenge the decision in court, reported Times Of India.

A panel was thus set up last December, to review if the UPA government’s decision to cancel the allotment was justified.

After the review process, Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu told TOI

“After we came to power, these organisations made representations and my ministry appointed a panel of two retired secretaries to look into entire issue. It found there was citing discrimination in the UPA government’s decision. I took the matter to the Cabinet and restoration of allotment has been approved in all cases barring a couple of them.”
