After Nana Patekar And Aamir Khan, Sachin Tendulkar Reaches Out To Drought Stricken Farmers Too

Last year, actor Nana Patekar had told farmers in Maharashtra, “If you think of committing suicide, please call me first.” His movement to help drought-affected farmers got a boost up when Marathi actor Makrand Anaspure joined it. And now, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has also pitched in to help the farmers.

Tendulkar recently expressed his desire to help farmers of the Marathwada region in Maharashtra. His personal assistant Naraynan Kanhan had recently toured the Beed district where collector Navalkishor Ram informed him of the drought situation.

On Sunday, Kanhan told reporters that Tendulkar will be working independently and will not seek political assistance in this project.

The cricket star is planning to help the farmers by creating irrigation facilities, power supply, road constructions, drinking water supply and other necessities which will help them. For the past few years helpless, drought-stricken farmers have been committing suicide as a last resort.

This was not the first time Tendulkar has been in the news for his charitable works. In 2014, when a devastating flood had hit Jammu and Kashmir, he had donated relief materials to the affected people
