This Pic Of A ‘No Plastic’ Meeting Feat. Plastic Bottles Defines The Irony In Our State Of Affairs

Meenu Katariya

Just yesterday we celebrated the ‘World Environment Day’. For the uninitiated, the theme was ‘Beat plastic pollution’.

And now the internet has been gifted with an image, that basically serves as an example of what not to do, while you are protecting the environment, especially when you are at the helm of affairs, deciding for the rest of the country.

A Twitter user shared this photo of the Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, which apparently seems to be from one of his conferences on plastic ban in the state.

Recently, Maharashtra introduced a complete ban on plastic bags and other items made of plastic. And this is how the head of the state decided to play his part in implementing the ban.

Twitterati soon spotted the irony in the picture which unfortunately depicts the sad reality of this country.

‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ is one of the largest cleanliness drives in the world. But are we really living up to its spirit?

Are bans and slogans really the way forward?
