Over 100 Scientists Have Dismissed Isaac Newton’s Law Of Gravity, ‘Einstein Is Right’ For Now

Since our childhood, we have been learning and reading about Isaac Newton and his theory of gravity that he first publicized during the 1680s.

But, years after this path-breaking discovery, physicists at Durham University, UK have now rejected Newton’s theory of general relativity with regard to the black hole, according to reports

In order for us to understand what this means first let’s understand what Newton’s theory of general relativity actually means.

Newton’s theory of general relativity suggests that every particle attracts every other particle in the universe with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers.

This theory mentioned above has been ruled out by more than 100 scientists. They have outrightly wronged Isaac Netwon’s law of gravity.

But, after their comprehensive test near the monstrous black hole at the centre of our galaxy, the researchers agree with Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity.

To get a better understanding, Einstein’s theory of general relativity suggests that gravity results from how mass warps space and time. The greater an object’s mass, the stronger its gravitational pull.

Andrea Ghez from University of California said, “Einstein is right, at least for now. We can absolutely rule out Newton’s law of gravity. Our observations are consistent with Einstein’s theory of general relativity”.

He further added, “However, his theory is definitely showing vulnerability. It cannot fully explain gravity inside a black hole, and at some point, we will need to move beyond Einstein’s theory to a more comprehensive theory of gravity that explains what a black hole is”.

Professor Ghez, who has made direct measurements of the phenomenon near a supermassive black hole said, “Einstein’s theory is the best description of how gravity works.”

Currently, researchers and scientists are trying to understand more about what a black hole is and how gravity functions within the black hole.
