47 days to go: Anju Bobby George, India’s only medal-winner ever at the Athletics World Championship

From the state that gave the country it’s greatest female athlete PT Usha, Anju Bobby George carved her own place in the annals of Indian sporting history. She is still the only Indian athlete to win a medal at World Atheltics Championship, when she clinched bronze in 2003 with a jump of 6.70m. She saved her best ever jump for the Athens Olympics in 2004, but her 6.83 m jump could get her only a fifth place finish.
