Shimla: 2 Workers Trapped In Tunnel For 130 Hours Alive, No Contact With Third

Three workers have been trapped for over 130 hours after an under construction tunnel collapsed near Shimla on Saturday night last week. According to NDTV , most workers were able to escape safely when the calamity struck, but these three were unable to get out.

Almost a week after the incident, rescue teams have been able to establish contact with two of the workers trapped on the other side of the debris, while the position of the third one is unknown. Images from a digital camera confirmed that they are alive and a vertical opening has been drilled to send water inside.

The rescue operations by far have been deterred by the falling debris, preventing the rescue team from drilling further. But with the operation showing some promise on Friday, the men will be brought out of captivity within 24 hours.
