In a bid to promote Ayurveda and tourism in Kerala, tennis legend Steffi Graf has been appointed as the the brand ambassador of the state.
Graf hails from Germany and is a former world number 1 who has won 22 G rand Slam titles in a career spanning 17 years. She has been the top seed for a record 377 weeks.
The decision to appoint her as the brand ambassador was taken at a meeting conducted on the 24th of June, 2015, that was chaired by the Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Oommen Chandy.
According to sources, the state government had also approached Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and other international celebrities for the job.
It would be interesting to see how her appointment boosts the state’s tourism given the fact that she enjoys a massive fan following across the globe.
