In A Kind Gesture, Store Allows Kid To Do Homework On Their Tablet Coz He Didn’t Have Internet

A 10-year-old boy who didn’t have access to the internet was recently filmed doing his homework in a shopping mall store. And as soon as the video hit the internet, people starting praising the store employees.

This humane gesture was captured in a store in Recife, Brazil. The kid was doing a research assignment on one of the store’s tablets. People were touched to see that the store employees didn’t ask him to leave and in fact, one of them invited him inside.

The video was first posted on Imgur and it immediately went viral after it was shared on Twitter – where it got over 6M views. 

The student has been identified as Guilherme Santiago who’s studying in 5th grade at the Abilio Gomes Municipal School. He comes from a low-income neighbourhood where residents and schools lack facilities like the internet.

Initially, he was working on a mobile phone but the Samsung store employee spotted him and asked him what he was doing. Then he invited the kid inside to use the store’s tablet. Talking about this, the kid said: 

I didn’t say anything, I was scared. The man [store clerk] asked what I was doing. It was a work about the Southern Region. It was worth 10 [minutes] and I took 10.  

After the clip went viral, Samsung donated two tablets to the boy and the service manager of the store also claimed: 

Everything is already right for his tablet and we will also assist in the insurance of the device against accidents.
