A police sub-inspector from Osmanabad, Maharashtra has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl at gunpoint.
Prem Sukhdev Bansode (26), presently posted at Vishrambaug police station in Sangli district, was arrested in Osmanabad on Friday night, Additional SP Deepali Ghadge said.
The victim along with her family was staying on rent at the sub-inspector’s house, where the incident took place.
The girl claimed that the policeman raped her at gunpoint and threatened her and her family from disclosing the crime. The family lodged a complaint at Anandnagar police station after which the policeman was arrested.
Bansode has been booked under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of the POCSO Act.
