On Friday, the Supreme Court refused to pass orders on a plea seeking that demonetised Rs 500, 1000 currency notes be allowed to be used for some more time at places like hospitals and petrol pumps.
A five-judge bench has been formed to look into the matter of demonetisation and all other matters related to the issue in various High Courts have been stayed.
The government was also asked to fulfill the commitment of allowing people to withdraw Rs 24,000 per week to the fullest extent possible.
The Supreme Court has not granted any relief to district cooperative banks and left it to the Centre to decide on extension of the order on depositing old Rs 500 & 1000 denominations after December 30.
Earlier, a bench comprising Chief Justice TS Thakur and Justice DY Chandrachud had said that they will pass some orders on Friday after senior advocate Kapil Sibal sought an interim order on the issue.
Sibal had said that the use of demonetised Rs 500 notes has come to an end and some order needed to be passed.
