Man In Tamil Nadu Arrested For Selling His Five-Month Old Baby For Rs One Lakh

Police officials in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu have arrested a man who allegedly sold his five-month old baby to a childless couple for Rs one lakh. Sutheesh Kumar, a construction worker, was caught on Wednesday, January 13 after he tried to sell his second child to a couple through a broker.

Kumar, who was living in extreme poverty was lured by the couple on December 31. He had agreed to sell his son even despite his wife’s unwillingness. However, the couple did not take care of the baby properly and it started crying, following which neighbours informed police and Child Helpline officials. The All-Women police station personnel arrested Sutheesh Kumar, the man who bought the baby, and two others, including the wife of the broker. Police claim that the search for the broker is still on.
