A 23-year-old woman TV anchor of Gemini Music Channel (Telugu) allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in a private hostel in Sindhi colony of Secunderabad, police said. And according to reports she hanged herself while on a video call with her boyfriend abroad.
K Nirosha, was found hanging in her room by her friends in the early hours of Wednesday, Ramgopalpet police station Sub-Inspector D Krishna Mohan said. No suicide note was found.
However, there have been conflicting claims about her death. An Indian Express report states that she had a tiff with her boyfriend, Ritwik, who lives in Canada. According to teh report, she hanged herself while she was on a video call with him.
Her boyfriend reportedly informed her friend, who later contacted her relatives and police.
But the police told PTI that she had been suffering from a “stomach pain for the past few days” and she called up her parents and fiancée late last night before resorting to the extreme step.
Nirosha was a native of Somala mandal in Chittoor district of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. A case under section 174 of CrPC was registered and further probe is on.
