Within 24 hours, the government in Bihar has changed from a coalition between Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD, Congress and Nitish Kumar’s JD (U) to one between JD (U) and the NDA.
After his surprise resignation from the post of chief minister of Bihar last evening, Nitish Kumar went on to take the oath as the CM again this morning, this time with NDA’s support.
What has happened?
Nitish says he quit over corruption charges on deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, an argument rejected by his allies RJD and Congress as “opportunism” and even “back-stabbing”.
And though one might argue that it’s unethical that the people of Bihar have ended up with a BJP government despite voting against it, what has unfolded is just simple politics with plenty of precedents before!
