This Video Of Car Chasing A Lion Cub Outside Sanctuary Limits Has Left Officials Fuming

A video posted on a Facebook page called Gujarat Forest run by an NGO showing a car chasing an Asiatic lion cub outside the sanctuary limits has gone viral.

The video has left wildlife activists and authorities fuming, reported The Times of India.

It shows the car occupants, speaking in Gujarati, chasing the cub till it escapes. What’s more, the cub is forced to run at a speed of more than 35-40 kmph, as per an official who analysed the video.

Ravi Raj, who administers the group, told the newspaper, “I wanted to bring the video to the notice of officials so that action is taken.”

Ram Kumar, the additional principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife) told TOI that the car occupants are being identified.

As per wildlife protection act, chasing lion or any wild animal is an offence.
