According to NDTV, the US Food and Administration (FDA) detected Salmonella bacteria in MDH’s sambar masala.
The company, R Pure Agro Specialities, is withdrawing at least three lots of the product from US shelves.
The recalled sambar masala that was distributed in northern California retail stores was distributed by the House Of Spices (India).
Upon testing in a certified laboratory, FDA found the products positive for salmonella.
The salmonella bacteria can cause Salmonella food poisoning (Salmonellosis), an illness, if live bacteria enter our body.
Common symptoms of salmonellosis are diarrohea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours after eating the contaminated product.
In a statement that was issued last week, House Of Spices said:
Consumers who have purchased the MDH SAMBAR MASALA, 3.5 oz (100g) are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
