Uttar Pradesh Cop Slaps Elderly Man In Lucknow, Gets Suspended

A senior police officer was suspended for “delinquent behaviour” after a video showing him slapping an elderly man in Lucknow went viral.

Taking serious note of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav ordered suspension of DIG D K Chowdhury.

“@yadavakhilesh orders the immediate suspension of DIG Lucknow for his delinquent behavior towards an elderly person,” the CM office tweeted.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (law and order) had sought an explanation from the DIG (Lucknow) for his act.

“DIG, Lucknow has been asked by ADG, Law and Order to explain his conduct in hitting an elderly man last evening,” Director General of Police (DGP) Javeed Ahmad said in a tweet after the video of Chowdhury slapping the old man while taking a round went viral.
