A man has been arrested by Greater Noida police for allegedly posting “objectionable” picture of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on social media, police said.
Twenty-two-year-old Rahat Khan was arrested in Dankaur area on the complaint of Hindu Yuva Vahini, a youth outfit founded by Adityanath.
“A case has been registered and accused has been arrested,” Dankaur police station in charge Rajpal Tomar told PTI.
Rajpal Tomar told Hindustan Times:
“Rahat Khan has posted morphed image of the newly elected chief minister and captioned it with ‘Yogi hai, ya bhogi hai’ on his Facebook wall.”
Family members of Khan, who runs a Jan Suvidha Kendra (public utility center) in Dankaur, have alleged that he has been “framed by the land mafia, who stole his Facebook password, logged in and posted the content online.”
PTI reported Khan had uploaded the objectionable photo of the UP CM and posted comments on his Facebook page.
Khan has been arrested under Sections 66A (Punishment for sending offensive messages through communication service) of IT Act.
According to police, this is the fifth arrest in such cases since Adityanath took as UP CM.
