US Journal Renames Pranayama As ‘Cardiac Coherence Breathing’ & Desis Are Huffing & Puffing

Remember those yoga classes where all you had to do was to spread a mat and become a glorious but awkward ballerina?

Yes, this one. The glorious Pranayama – the yogic exercise that helps control your breath.

Scientific American recently published an article which stated that proper breathing brings can stabilise the heartbeat, eventually dampening anxiety. 

Tell us something new.

Desi Twitter woke up from their deep slumber to rectify the blatant rehash.

In their defence, they did, however, mention Pranayama in their article.

Recommendations for how to modulate breathing and influence health and mind appeared centuries ago as well. Pranayama (“breath retention”) yoga was the first doctrine to build a theory around respiratory control, holding that controlled breathing was a way to increase longevity.

Anyhow, we’ve been there, done that, and that too for thousands of years.
