Have You Seen These Teenage Girls Who Are Confronting Rape Culture In India?

Afreen is a 17-year-old girl from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Determined to end India’s prevailing ‘rape culture’, she, along with a group of girls aged between 11 to 25, formed the Red Brigade group. The ‘vigilante’ organisation for women empowerment aims to fight out the deep-rooted patriarch, sexism and orthodoxy in the society. From organising self-defence classes and awareness campaigns to orchestrating thoughtful petitions and protests, the organisation’s efforts are highly praiseworthy.
