The world is losing one-horned rhinoceroses to rampant poaching and reduction in their habitat. And every year hundreds of baby rhinos are orphaned due to this.
Highlighting this plight of orphaned animals, an Indian Forest Service officer, shared a heart-wrenching video of a baby rhino trying to awaken its dead parent.
According to reports, this is an old video that was filmed last year in South Africa, but started doing rounds on social media after being shared by Parveen Kaswan.
The post was flooded with hundreds of comments, some angry and some heartbreaking.
According to the Independent, the baby rhino was tranquilized by authorities and given shelter in a rhino orphanage.
Instances like these break our hearts and make us question whether we humans truly deserve this planet.
