Voters Raise Concern After Indelible Ink Used In Elections Apparently Wears Off Within Hours

Ira Shukla

The first of the 7 Lok Sabha Election phases was held on April 11, kickstarting the much-awaited polls.

While many posted selfies showing their ‘inked’ fingers, some also complained that apparently it wears off, raising a concern about the transparency of the whole process.

People expressed their apprehension by posting pictures and videos, showing the poor durability of the ink that makes it possible for the poll officers to know if someone has voted before.

The ink, manufactured by Mysore Paints & Varnish LTD, should ideally stay for a few weeks to prevent fraud.
