Usually these gentle giants quietly parade in temple processions or are used for lumber operations. But Kerala has also seen multiple instances when elephants have gone on the rampage while doing seemingly routine tasks.

In the latest instance, an elephant that was participating in a temple procession in Kozhikode went on the rampage and damaged a rickshaw and a home before it was bought under control.

This video uploaded by Facebook user Arshadkhan Titto shows how the elephant smashed a rickshaw and damaged a house before it went on to damage another house. It also shows the mahout jump off the elephant on to an electric pole to save his life and make a miraculous escape.

The elephant, who is known as Ambadi Kannan, was brought under control only four hours later, says this Mathrubhumi report. The reason for his rampage is still clear.
