The West Bengal Cabinet on Tuesday cleared the proposal of changing the state’s name to Bangla or Bongo in Bengali and Bengal in English. Officials said that the Mamata Banerjee government has decided to drop West from the name so it would not come last alphabetically.
Twitter was quick in latching on to the news and making it the butt of all jokes.
Some even went on to extend their amazingly creative suggestions..
While others expressed ‘genuine concerns’ over the bizarre renaming
