A 22-year-old woman in Mumbai recently had to go through a harrowing ordeal. She was on the local train in the women’s compartment with a friend when she noticed a man from the adjacent compartment. When he noticed her, he immediately started hurling abuses at her.
She hoped he’d stop, but it just got worse. According to the Indian Express, he then proceeded to unzip his pants and start masturbating while grinning right at her. She claims he even threatened to rape her. In a Facebook post, she said the railway police laughed off her account and refused to even file a complaint. After taking to social media however, it came to the attention of Suresh Prabhu, who has ordered an enquiry into the case.
It’s extremely disheartening to see cases like these.
