20-Year-Old Woman About To Become A Police Constable In Uttar Pradesh Attacked With Acid

In a disturbing incident, a 20-year-old woman was attacked with acid in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh, reported Hindustan Times.

Reportedly, the woman was attacked by two men riding a bike while she was on her way to her coaching institute on a bicycle.

She was a final year B.Sc. student and was about to join the Uttar Pradesh police department as a constable in a few weeks.

The Statesman

Vineet Singh, Circle Officer, Dalmau, who is in charge of the investigation said that the attackers were aiming for the woman’s face but she suffered burns on her neck, back and chest because she managed to turn around in time.

He further added:

“She was rushed to the emergency ward of Rae Bareli district hospital and was later shifted to the ICU. According to doctors, she has suffered 30 per cent burns and her condition is being monitored.”

An FIR against the unidentified men has been lodged under Section 326A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
