Miracles happen! Some, more bizarre than others.
In today’s edition of bizarre miracles, a teenager in UK gave birth to a baby girl while she was in an induced coma.
What’s more? The 18-year-old, Ebony Stevenson had a rare condition called uterus didelphys — in which a woman has two wombs.
The baby was reportedly getting nurtured in one womb, while the other continued to menstruate normally.
According to reports, Ebony had no idea she was pregnant. She says,
It sounds awful now, but I asked them to take her away as I was so confused and sure they’d made a mistake. Although I was so confused – and pretty scared – it was a beautiful moment and she was so quiet.
Still a little overwhelmed, the woman said in a statement,
Meeting my baby was so surreal. It felt like an out-of-body experience. I worried I wouldn’t bond with my daughter because I had no time to get my head around her arrival, but I think she’s amazing. It’s an absolute miracle. I wouldn’t change Elodie for the world.
While she was still in a coma, Ebony began to experience preeclampsia — a sudden spike in blood pressure occurring during pregnancy. It was then that the doctors decided the baby had to be delivered through an emergency caesarean.
Both the mother, Ebony and her daughter, Elodie are healthy and are under the care of Ebony’s mother.
