In what comes as disconcerting news, wrestler Narsingh Yadav has been asked not to venture out alone at SAI’s Sonepat training centre. The 26-year-old has won the Olympic quota in the 74kg category for which two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar is demanding a trial.

Sushil has already taken the matter to the Delhi High Court, but it seems that authorities don’t want to take any risk with Narsingh, with reports suggesting that he could be attacked by outsiders.

A Hindustan Times report said that though Narsingh had not asked for additional security at the training camp, he was told not to leave his room or the training area on his own.

The request for security has been sent to Haryana Police. The newspaper quotes Anil Rao, Inspector General of Police (IG), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), as saying:

We have had a word with the local police authorities and they will take precautionary measures in the matter.
