A foreign national in New Delhi was allegedly thrashed by staff members of a showroom after he allegedly stole a pair of shoes from the outlet, a report by CNN-News18 says.

According to the report, the incident took place at an Adidas showroom in New Delhi when a foreigner allegedly walked out of the showroom wearing a pair of shoes without paying for it. Confronted, the foreigner got into an argument with the showroom staff which eventually resulted into a physical violence.

The showroom staff has alleged that the accused tried to flee the spot by unsuccessfully climbing up a tree. The staff alleged that the foreigner was injured when he fell down from the tree resulting into injuries.

After the police arrived on the scene, the foreigner was sent to a hospital for medical examination. Details about his identity and nationality haven’t been released yet.

No FIR has been registered yet in the case. However, police officials confirmed to CNN-News 18 that they are ready to register two FIRs in the case – for the theft and the thrashing of the foreigner by the staff members of the showroom.

This is the third incident in recent weeks involving foreigners being thrashed by the locals in the country. On Sunday, a German national was allegedly beaten in Sonabhadra, Uttar Pradesh when he allegedly ignored a local’s greetings.

Last month, a Swiss couple was chased and attacked with stones and sticks by a group of youths in Fatehpur Sikri, Agra. The group insisted they click selfies with the female tourist and then started enquiring about their place of stay, resulting into a full-blown assault later.
