You Will Soon Be Able To Browse Internet For Free At Delhi’s Lodhi Garden

You will soon be able to surf internet for free at Delhi’s Lodhi Garden as the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is planning to make it a free Wi-Fi zone from next month.

According to a Times of India report, LED streetlights equipped with Wi-Fi facility and security cameras will be installed in the garden.

The free Wi-Fi project has been initiated with Lodhi Garden and will also cover gardens, metro stations, important monuments and market places under NDMC jurisdictions.

It will take one month to make Lodhi Garden a free Wi-Fi zone. A senior NDMC official told the newspaper that they will collaborate with one of the subsidiaries of MTNL by April this year to extend Wi-Fi services in major markets.

The plan to extend Wi-Fi services to NDMC areas was proposed in 2014 but could not be realized due to lack of interested bidders. The plan was reinstated under the smart city project during the 2017-18 budget.
