Young Girl Beaten Up By Police For Entering VIP Darshan Line At A Ganesh Pandal In Mumbai

A video of a young girl being beaten up by police officials at a Ganesh pandal in Mumbai is drawing massive flak on social media.

This shocking incident took place on Friday, September 25, when the girl, identified as Nandini Goswami, had visited the Lalbaughcha Raja pandal along with her kin. Goswami reportedly tried to enter the VIP ‘darshan line’ in the presence of police officials who prevented her from entering. Then she was allegedly beaten up by female police officials.

Here is the video showing the whole incident:

I was told that this girl was assaulted by cops at lalbaug cha raja, last night … Who gives police the right to strike someone first? And why was she slapped repeatedly despite the girl not raising her hand? What kind of stupid policing is this? And they wonder why they are hated…. this is why #MumbaiPolice ! This is #Appalling! Share to spread the word!

The victim was brought to the Kalachowkie police station at 2 am on Saturday morning and charged Rs 1200 under section 110 of the Indian Penal code. The incident comes a day after it was reported that a lady scribe was assaulted by Lalbaugcha Raja workers. A probe has been initiated by the police into this matter. Civilians are often reminded of the fact that law should not be taken into own hands but what if the protectors take law into their hands?
