Chattisgarh IAS Officer Suspended After Viral Photo Of Him Putting Foot On Hospital Bed, Apologises

The young Chattisgarh IAS Officer, Dr Jagdish Sonkar, who recently raised quite a public uproar after an objectionable picture of him went viral on social media on May 4, has posted an earnest apology on a social networking site.

The apology followed the viral, highly criticised image of the young officer, talking to the mother of a patient in a hospital with his foot, casually resting on the railing of the patient’s bed.

The media uproar was such that even the Chief Minister of Chattisgarh, CM Raman promised action against him. A report said he was suspended.

Dr Sonkar also told Hindustan Times that his actions were “unintentional and avoidable”, before tendering a formal apology. It is yet to be seen whether the apology will help make up for the young officer’s misdemeanor.
