Pak High Commission Staffer Arrested By Delhi Police With Defence Documents

Pakistan High Commission staffer Mehmood Akhtar was arrested by Delhi police, allegedly with highly classified defence documents. The Ministry of External Affairs has summoned Pak envoy, Abdul Basit. 

According to media reports, Akhtar was part of Basit’s staff and was in allegedly involved in espionage. He was detained in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri police station under espionage charges. 

Akhtar has, however, been released due to diplomatic immunity. 

The documents seized from the man have been sent to the MEA, Times of India reports.
