A Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader has been arrested after he went to a religious event wearing a burqa and molested a woman. The incident happened on Saturday in Mauaima, Allahabad, when Abhishek Yadav, along with an accomplice, attended a milaad programme organised to commemorate Muharram in Mani Umarpur village.
According to a report by The Times of India, when Muslim scholars and clerics were delivering the sermon during the event, a woman complained of molestation by a burqa-clad person. Soon locals got furious and asked the person to remove the veil. When it was found that it wasn’t a woman, Yadav was thrashed by the people. His accomplice, however, managed to flee from the scene.
He was later handed over to the police and an FIR under sections 296 and 354A was registered against him.
However, Yadav’s family, claim that he was attacked and looted by some people at Mani Umarpur village. Abhishek Yadav, is the husband of BJP zila panchayat member Shipra Yadav, reports Hindustan Times.
