Kerala Student Leader Becomes Butt Of Jokes For Sprint After Police Disperse Protest

In Kerala, it is quite common a sight to see leaders across political spectrum sloganeering against the government authorities and braving police using batons on them. But a video of a local student leader is putting a smile on the faces of many in the state after his escape from the police.

The Muslim Students Federation (MSF) had organised a protest march on August 30 to the office of the Deputy Director of Education over the delay in distribution of textbooks in state schools. The march was headed by MSF leader Sayed Sharafudheen Jifri Thangal. 

During his speech, he told supporters that the protests would continue until the textbooks are distributed but only through non-violent means. 

However, when some of his men broke the police barricade and tried to enter the Deputy Director of Education’s office, police used batons to to disperse agitating protesters. Thangal at the time was spotted sprinting away, peacefully.

The video of him running away is doing the rounds of social media with many comparing it to comedy scenes of popular Malayalam films.
