Did Donald Trump Quote Batman’s Bane In His Inaugural Speech?

SW Staff

Donald Trump never fails to make headlines. Now, a small part of his inaugural address after he was sworn in as the 45th President of America is noticed thanks to its uncanny resemblance with a speech from a film. Unfortunately, it’s from one by Batman arch-villain Bane in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.

In his speech, Trump said,

“Today’s ceremony, however, has a very special meaning because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, DC, and giving it back to you, the people.”

In The Dark Knight Rises, Bane says the same line when he takes over Gotham City.

Here’s what the movie dialogue was:

“We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity. And we give it to you, the people.”

Here is a look at the video:

Though the resemblance seems like a pure co-incidence, Twitteratti had a ball with it
