A national-level shooter beat up an Olympian against whom she had filed a complaint of rape earlier while he was participating in the shooting nationals being held at the Balewadi stadium in Pune.

A Times of India report says that the shooter who was assaulted was identified as Sanjiv Rajput, who had represented India at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. Rajput, apparently, fled the stadium before police could reach and did not participate in the finals on the same day.

The female shooter has now filed a fresh complaint against Rajput in Pune, at the Hinjewadi police station. The Arjuna Awardee was already booked on rape charges at Delhi’s Chanakyapuri police station on 4th December.

‘The two were in a relationship and Rajput had promised to marry her, according to the FIR. He, however, reneged on the promise,’ the Times of India report added. It also said that the victim lunged at Rajput as soon as he reached Balewadi. A non-cognisable complaint has been registered against him.
