Batting in the nets ahead of India’s match against South Africa at the MCG, Ravichandran Ashwin was hit by a delivery from pacer Umesh Yadav. The Indian spinner however continued to bat on.
Reports say that after a 5-minute break of applying ice on the injured area, Ashwin continued to bat for another 20 minutes and seemed comfortable at the crease.
The off-spinner fared decently against Pakistan with figures of 1/41 and the team doctor has deemed the injury as non-serious, confirming that the 28-year-old will not have any problems in playing Sunday’s match.
