India tennis ace Rohan Bopanna claimed his first Gland Slam trophy on Thursday as he won the French Open mixed doubles title with her Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski.

Bopanna and Dabrowski beat the unseeded pair of Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany and Robert Farah of Colombia 2-6, 6-2, 12-10 on Philippe-Chatrier Court.

Bopanna has become only the fourth Indian to win a Grand Slam crown. Three Indians – Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza – had clinched a Grand Slam trophy before Bopanna.

Bopanna last reached a Grand Slam final in 2010 where he and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi lost to the duo of Bob and Mike Bryan in the final.
