In a game where England’s survival in the tournament was at stake, Moeen Ali’s century helped them pull their act together and defeat their southern neighbours Scotland by 119 runs.

After suffering back-to-back thrashings at the hands of Australia and New Zealand, the English batsmen finally kept their nerves in a pressure game. The openers got off to a good start and thanks to Ali’s well-paced innings of 128, England finally managed an imposing total of 303/8.

Scotland, however, were a pale shadow of their determined self which saw them put up a fight against New Zealand in the first match. The Scottish batsmen caved in under the pressure of a 300-plus total and were bundled for just 184, gifting England their first points of the 2015 World Cup.
