Gautam Gambhir has done it again!
It’s now becoming a tradition of sorts for the combative Kolkata Knight Riders captain to make a statement of sorts against his former captain MS Dhoni every time they face each other on a cricket field. And right on cue, when Dhoni came out to bat against KKR on Tuesday in Pune, out came the attacking field that has become a Gambhir trademark against Dhoni.
And no prizes for guessing who was standing at silly point, with his helmet on, facing Dhoni eye-to-eye: Gambhir himself.
While Dhoni did go on to so some damage with the bat in hand this time around (the silly point was in place for just one ball), Gambhir did end up on the winning side.
Gambhir did the same thing in 2016 – and not just during the IPL, but even at the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament when Jharkand was taking on Gambhir’s Delhi.
Gambhir and Dhoni have a storied rivalry and the former never fails to make a point to the former India skipper.
