Harmanpreet Kaur Becomes The First Indian Woman To Score A T20 Century & The World Takes Notice

Harmanpreet Kaur, on Friday, became the first Indian woman to score a T20I century. And what a century it was, garnished with 8 towering sixes and 7 boundaries. 

The 29-year-old reached her century in just 49 balls and ended up with a personal best of 103 of 51 balls.

Mind you this is the T20 World Cup India is participating in. Kaur, who is the skipper of the team, rescued India’s batting which was struggling at 40 for 3 and along with Jemimah Rodrigues, put a record 134 for the fourth wicket.

India’s total of 194/5 is the highest total ever scored by any team in the Women’s T20. 

You can only imagine the onslaught that happened at the back end of the innings when you realise that India were 76 for 3 at the end of 10 overs.

Then, courtesy of the Indian skipper, the team added a staggering 118 in the last 10.

Having cleared the fence 8 times, Kaur now holds the record for the most number of sixes in a T20 inning, beating her own record of 5 sixes against Sri Lanka. 

And the world took notice of the new star in the game.
