Olympian Sakshi Malik Slams Haryana Govt, Asks If Promises Were For ‘Media Only’

India’s wrestling champion Sakshi Malik who rose to fame after winning bronze last year at Rio Olympics has now slammed the government for failing to ‘deliver promises’. Malik, who won the medal last year in August, has said that the announcements made by Haryana government after her win were only for the media.

After her win last year, Malik was given a grand reception in India by the Haryana government. She was handed a cheque of Rs 2.5 crore by the Chief Minister and was appointed as Haryana’s brand ambassador for ‘Beti Padhao-Beti Bachao’ programme. She was also offered a Class II rank post in the Indian Railways. 

Apart from her state government, Malik had also received several awards from other organisations such as  Indian Railways, Indian Olympic Association, JSW Group and Uttar Pradesh government.
