Opener Shikhar Dhawan Ruled Out Of World Cup For 3 Weeks

As reported by India Today, Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the World Cup for 3 weeks with a fractured thumb. The opener suffered the injury during India’s last game against Australia.

The batsman sustained the injury after being hit on the hand by a ball from Nathan Coulter-Nile, but went on to make a brilliant century.

Reports say that KL Rahul is most likely to open the innings, with Dinesh Karthik to fill in the empty slot in the middle order.

According to NDTV, standbys Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu are ready to replace the injured batsman should he be ruled out of the entire tournament, but Shreyas Iyer is also in contention.
