People Are Criticising ICC For The ‘Boundary Rule’ As England Snatched Victory From NZ In WC Final

Not a single person watching the World Cup final last night, would have thought that the match will end in a draw TWO times.

Batting first, New Zealand scored 241 and in return, England scored 241 as well. Unbelievable scenes followed when the match went to the super-over and both teams scored 15 runs.

To decide the winner, the authorities went for the ‘boundary rule’. Which meant that the team which hit more boundaries during the match was declared victorious.  

And it was England. Hitting 24 boundaries compared to New Zealand’s 16, they were given the trophy. 

While it was a historic moment for their fans, a lot of people – including cricket greats – think that it is unfair for the rules to be favouring the batsmen so heavily. 

Looks like the ICC has a lot of answering to do.
